Inspired by the legendary 1959 World Chess Championship in Zagreb, the ChessCraftman Russian Zagreb Chessmen are a faithful and elegant reproduction of the original tournament-style pieces. Handcrafted from Ebonised Boxwood (dark pieces) and natural Boxwood (light pieces), this set brings tradition and precision craftsmanship to your chessboard.
Each piece is expertly turned and polished, featuring smooth, rounded profiles without sharp points—making them ideal for both casual and competitive play. The distinctive knight, known for its unique carving, adds character and authenticity to this classic Staunton design.
With a 2.6-inch king height and weighted bases, these chessmen offer excellent board presence, balance, and stability. The set includes 34 pieces (with 2 extra queens for pawn promotion), and is best suited for boards with 1.56" to 1.76" square sizes.
